Dear Friends,
During the past twelve years, we have seen human rights abuses in China reach horrific proportions. Friends of Falun Gong USA was started in response to that crisis, because it was impossible to remain silent as peaceful, kind people lost their families, their jobs, and even their lives.
In more recent times, through a variety of means, the Chinese government has sought to eradicate Falun Gong in other countries as well, including the United States. Fortunately, in the United States we have the freedom to practice any spiritual belief we desire, and it is indeed a cornerstone of our democracy. Sometimes it can be easy to forget that many do not have the same opportunity. I feel very fortunate to have such freedom, and to be able to advocate on behalf of those who do not.
Protection of basic human rights transcends personal beliefs, ethnicity, age and social status. Those of us who are moved to act may be doing so in response to a calling that we hear at some time in our life- a calling from the compassionate spirit that lies within each of us.
It is an honor to work with people who care so deeply about humanrights and to be associated with an organization that is working to establish freedom of belief worldwide. With the continued support of the US Government, non-governmental organizations, and individuals, Friends of Falun Gong USA will win the release of Falun Gong adherents in China and will help bring an end to the terrible persecution there.
