Dear Governor Corzine:

On behalf of Friends of Falun Gong, a human rights organization mandated to protect the rights of Falun Gong practitioners worldwide, I am writing to urge you to drop the charges against Dr. Wenyi Wang, and ask instead that there be an immediate and credible investigation into charges of organ extraction on Falun Gong practitioners throughout all slave labor and concentration camps in China.

Dr. Wang took the action that she did because the persecution of Falun Gong has continued unabated, and largely ignored, for seven years. White House press corps was told there would be no opportunity to ask questions of Chairman Hu at the welcoming ceremony, and to date we are unaware of any discussion between our two countries regarding a call for the end of the persecution. As we exhort the Chinese government to allow greater religious freedoms and more human rights for its people, we must support those noble aspirations by our steadfast actions. To charge a petite middle-aged wife and mother of two of “intimidating” a foreign leader because she spoke out to call for an end to the very issues we are asking them to end, is to completely undercut those requests and undermine the validity of the issue.

Our Constitution guarantees us freedom of speech and freedom of the press, yet there was no opportunity for the press to freely ask questions of this communist leader in our democratic society, and no discussion of the core issues by our government. We have been trying to stop the CCP’s atrocities against Falun Gong for seven years; now we watch innocent people become live organ warehouses, their bodies ripped apart to line the pockets of the employees of corrupt Chinese courts, police, and hospitals. The real issue is this crime, not the act of a pathologist bound by conscience to uphold her Hippocratic oath.

As new details are revealed, we are left speechless by an unmitigated evil that could conceive and execute this malignant scheme. Recently, a veteran military doctor revealed the following on the Epoch Times website:

“Everyone knows that China exports many products. But in China, there are also a large number of live people being exported. In other words, the Chinese people that meet certain physical criteria are exported overseas as products through a network. The organ transplants are done overseas, and the bodies of the transplant sources are also destroyed [note: In many countries, there are Chinese-operated agencies that handle the bodies after organ harvest from live people; many Chinese embassies and consulates are also involved].

“China tops the world in exports related to live human bodies. For almost all of these people, there are falsified documents. I am not aware of the details. I know that more than 940 people were exported in 2005. There is actually a large global network of organ harvesting and transplants, and the transactions are centered in China. Since 2000, more than 85% of the world’s live organ transplants have been done in China. This number is from a document within the Military Commission. A few people were promoted to generals for the ‘accomplishments’ in this area.”

How can such statements possibly have been fabricated? And by what lack of humanity could they be ignored?

We bring these statements to light because they reflect an unspeakable human rights atrocity that must be stopped, but not for any political motive. We understand that some in the government believe that Falun Gong is a political organization. This is untrue. The teachings of Falun Gong forbid any involvement in politics and its practitioners have no interest in such matters. Practitioners, and those who support them, are solely interested in the freedom to follow their beliefs. They are unable to do so because Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party decided to ban the practice and exterminate its followers. The CCP’s propaganda campaign labels the practice as a “cult” (also untrue) and calls it “political” which suits its purpose. Since the CCP is a political group, and is the one brutalizing practitioners, who else should practitioners speak out against? Could they possibly support such a despicable and corrupt regime that is trying to kill them? The CCP has used vast sums to support this propaganda campaign and many Chinese in the U.S. and abroad, and in fact many Westerners too, have been misled.

We understand that dealings with China are difficult and complicated by many factors, but we hope that our government will look very seriously at the charges we are making and act in all speed. We urge you to call for real investigation into these allegations, not an investigation led by the CCP itself, and not after it has had weeks to sanitize evidence. We hope you will look past the glittering and elaborate movie set that China has constructed for the world, to see the real picture about the scope of its crimes, and about the true nature of Falun Gong. Finally, we ask that all charges against Wenyi Wang be dropped and the real criminals brought to justice.
