Kevin MacAlan, ‘Falun Gong’ – Honorable Mention

Falun Gong

by Kevin MacAlan

A popular practice of exercise,
Even with affirmations for the soul,
This alone could not warrant taking lives.

A government choosing to terrorise,
To disrupt, disassemble, and cajole
A popular practice of exercise

Makes no sense, unless they fear opened eyes,
Because patient compassion as a goal,
This alone could not warrant taking lives.

It’s the numbers; millions growing wise
To the CCP, whose needs must control
A popular practice of exercise.

Their people’s inner nature they despise,
But individuals becoming whole,
This alone could not warrant taking lives.

The fellowship of masses underlies
Beijing’s fearful and terrifying role.
A popular practice of exercise,
This alone could not warrant taking lives.
