Letter to Home Affairs in Malaysia

Dato’ Chor Chee Heung,

Deputy Minister for Home Affairs,

Ministry of Home Affairs,

Jalan Dato Onn,

50546 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Dear Deputy Minister Heung;

I am writing on behalf of Friends of Falun Gong USA, a human rights organization mandated to protect the rights of people worldwide who practice Falun Gong. As you may know, Falun Gong is a peaceful spiritual practice based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. As numerous reports from the U.S. State Department and respected organizations like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Reporters Without Borders have verified, its adherents have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese government for more than five years.

Unfortunately, Falun Gong practitioners are still being treated inhumanely and unjustly and the Chinese government has failed to uphold its constitution by persecuting its own citizens. Practitioners only want to educate their captors about the true nature of Falun Gong even while enduring beatings, brainwashing, and torture. Such peaceful behavior continues to be respected and supported by governments and human rights organizations around the world.

At this writing, the number of deaths of Falun Gong practitioners due to torture is known to be 1099. The Chinese authorities have stated that the number of deaths is many times greater than what we have been able to confirm.

It has come to our attention that the Malaysian government continues to limit the activities of Falun Gong practitioners and has publicly stated it believes practitioners to be against China and interfering in China’s domestic affairs. More recently, the Falun Dafa Research Centre Incorporated received a letter stating that its registration was to be rescinded.

Wishing to end the persecution of practitioners in China is clearly a human rights issue and not a political one. China is a signatory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and as such has a moral obligation to uphold the principals it has agreed to. The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners then becomes an issue of global concern. Malaysian Falun Gong practitioners are not targeting the Chinese government when they proffer information about the nature and extent of the persecution in China; they are simply upholding the basic human rights of people everywhere to practice their beliefs.

Once again, our organization is respectfully asking the Malaysian government to formally recognize the legitimacy of Falun Gong and to not rescind the registration of the Falun Dafa Research Centre. Please protect the rights of the citizens of Malaysia and give them the opportunity to practice their beliefs in peace. With lawsuits aimed at Jiang Zemin and members of his faction being launched globally, when the facts are revealed the people of the world will have a clearer understanding of the devious and diabolical nature of the Jiang regime, which began and orchestrated the persecution, and the lengths to which it will go to cover its brutal crimes.

Your leadership in providing freedom of belief and assembly for Falun Gong practitioners will be a clear indication of your commitment to supporting the right to practice one’s beliefs. We ask that you do not help China persecute Falun Gong practitioners outside its borders. Stand firmly with the rest of the world in supporting a peaceful and worthwhile practice that can only benefit society.

Sincerely,

Alan Adler
