Elected Officials Send Greetings for Falun Dafa Day 2016
In recognition of World Falun Dafa Day, May 13th, nearly 100 public officials across the United States issued proclamations, greeting letters, citations, or certificates. They noted the benefits of Falun Dafa meditation for members of their communities, greeted local practitioners, and praised the ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the persecution in China.
In New York state, six senators, 20 State Assembly members, 13 New York City council members, as well as borough, county and town officials, sent their greetings.
“Despite years of persecution, the influence of this spiritual movement has only continued to grow,” wrote Congressman Paul D. Tonko of the 20th Congressional District. “I am proud to join your calls in support of human rights and the fundamental freedom of religion and spiritual practice.”
Officials from Maryland, Virginia, Minnesota, Florida, Texas, Michigan, and Washington D.C., issued similar proclamations.
