Alexandra Umlas, “Falun Gong” – 4th Place Adult Award

Falun Gong

by Alexandra Umlas

Inhale rather than desire a thing,
absorb the qualities
of the universe, inhale

then exhale out attachment,
the Gong force building
inherent abilities of being,

the transformation of dark
karma swirls; pale virtue
changes in the body’s bale,

A Falun rotating
in the belly; the constant
motion opens up your seeing,

then exhale out attachment, the Gong
force building inherent abilities of being,

the very rotation
of the universe within you,
the harmonious simplicity of life

is a Falun rotating, in the belly,
the constant motion opens up your seeing,

this wisdom increases,
is done in all places, in all times,
no fear of strife,

only the very rotation of the universe within you,
the harmonious simplicity of life,

this wisdom increasing, done in all places,
in all times, no fear of strife,

the transformation of dark karma swirls,
the pale virtue changes in the body’s bale,

desiring nothing, instead absorbing
the qualities of the universe – inhale.

Note from the Editors: most of these poems were written by poets who just recently learned about Falun Gong and the persecution. While we recognize and commend these poems as voices of support, they do not represent Falun Gong itself or even the views of FoFG as an organization. For a genuine understanding of the practice, one would have to explore the teachings at their very source.
