Dear Secretary of State Tillerson,
Since 1999, the world has seen China’s communist leaders violently suppress tens of millions of Chinese citizens simply because they practice Falun Gong. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the US Department of State, and a host of other organizations have reported that tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in China have been arrested on spurious charges, with most being sent to slave labor camps, brainwashing centers and jails without trial. Torture is widespread, which now accounts for at least 3,600 deaths in police custody; the number is believed to be much, much higher. Thousands of practitioners have been stripped of their homes, jobs, educations, and even families. This situation is appalling to any person of goodwill.
China’s own people can no longer tolerate a totalitarian system responsible for more than 80 million unnatural deaths over the course of its more than 60-year reign—nor should the US government in the face of evidence of the unprecedented human rights violations the regime has perpetrated.
There is irrefutable evidence that high-ranking members of the Communist Party Central Committee have colluded in the illegal incarceration, systematic torture and murder of Falun Gong practitioners. The ghastly crowning achievement of this persecution is that the regime perfected techniques of removing organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, making billions of dollars of profit for the perpetrators. The inhumanity is shocking beyond description.
There is a struggle within China between those that want to maintain the status quo and those that want to end the persecution and redress the violent crimes of the past. A victory for those that support Falun Gong will be a victory for all the good people of China and all the spiritual groups and organizations that have been repressed and brutalized there since 1950.
Historically, the United States has made good and bad choices when deciding whether to support one political group or another in foreign lands. This time, the choice is far beyond two groups seeking control. It is a stark choice between those who have wielded torture and genocide vs. those who wish to redress wrongs and heal their nation. On a higher plane, it is a choice between good and evil, the kind of historic choice that a generation might get a chance to make just once.
The US can side with the good mainstream people of China (Falun Gong) or placate the CCP, falling into their trap by continuing to support this evil, tyrannical regime that has no future…simply by doing nothing. The regime is committing the most heinous crimes imaginable, so if you sit by and let it happen, your inaction would be immoral. That is not who the people of this great country, that you represent, are. Please take the following action:
• Publicly proclaim, clearly and unambiguously, that the persecution of Falun Gong in China violates numerous fundamental human rights and must cease immediately.
• Convey to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang that the United States supports efforts to redress the wrongs perpetrated against Falun Gong practitioners since 1999.
