Letter to Mei Xing

by Izuchukwu Saviour Otubelu

Soul of a goddess, breathe life to my spirit
For time is a succession of nothingness
The sun will not rise unless the sky’s cloudless
The day has dawned but the flames are yet unlit

Beneath the dark shadows of justice you sit
CCP’s worms have eaten up the charms of thy face
But thy candle yet blazes with pace and grace
Soul of a goddess, breathe life to my spirit

They have stripped you just to laugh at your nakedness
Western winds may blow, earth’s pillars may quake
Yet the soul of a sleeping goddess shall not wake
For time is a succession of nothingness

Afar, I hear thy silent screams of hopelessness
Pray, listen to my song; the words I speak are not vain
These dying bones shall breathe again after the rain
The sun will not rise unless the sky’s cloudless

Fear not, you will rise above these pieces and bits
I know you to be a strong woman, hard as steel
Long live Falun Gong! Her wounds shall surely heal
The day has dawned but the flames are yet unlit

Soul of a goddess, breathe life to my spirit
For time is a succession of nothingness
The sun will not rise unless the sky’s cloudless
The day has dawned but the flames are yet unlit

My ink is no more but my words live, dear goddess
The spirit of my words shall bear me witness
